I took a hike around the Marin Headlands last month... and man, the views on a clear day are indescribable. Looking East, you see the bay; looking west, you see the Pacific Ocean; looking south, you see San Francisco's Baker Beach, Ocean Beach, and the Richmond District. However, the best view is to the southeast:
Sometime I intend to come up here with a real camera & tripod. This picture was taken using my phone.
Besides gawking at the views, the Marin Headlands are also excellent for hiking, running, biking (lots of hills!), playing soldier in the gun emplacements, and even singing (there is this one bunker with astounding acoustics!), as I found out when I heard the far-off and beautiful sounds of human voice coming from deep within of the forest.
